Sustainability

We are passionate about ensuring sustainable working practices and are aiming for zero wastage in the future. We’re getting there – see how we are achieving this below:

Sustainability - Out There Trees
replanting

Replanting

Although we try to save trees wherever possible, it is not always feasible to do so. Therefore, we are very much of the opinion that it is good practice to plant one tree for every tree that is removed.

We try to work with our customers to enable this practice as much as possible as well as planting many new trees at Out There Trees HQ and the surrounding areas.

Waste Wood Processing

Waste Wood Processing

As you can imagine, we generate a lot of waste wood through our work but we aim to recycle all of it!

woodchip

Smaller limbs and branches are passed through our wood chippers. We then send most of this woodchip away to be used as biomass fuel in sustainable power plants.

hardwood

The large lengths of hard wood, such as Oak and Beech, are sent to local sawmills where they can be turned into furniture, flooring and all sorts of interesting wooden products. The rest is split and chopped up for firewood which can then be used in log burners and fireplaces. To purchase our seasoned firewood, see here.

soft wood

Soft wood, such as Pine and Fir, are not great for burning in your domestic fireplace as they are very resinous and can create a build up of tar in your flue. However, they make ideal biomass fuel for sustainable power plants so we send our soft wood there with our wood chip.
